The Pursuit of Happiness – Psalm 1

The Pursuit of Happiness – Psalm 1

The Pursuit of Happiness.

We are all wired to pursue happiness.

The Church has been suspicious about happiness. Our culture has been worshipping at the feet of happiness. Christians need to reclaim happiness. To be blessed is to have supreme happiness!

Blessed is the Man

Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither –
    whatever they do prospers.

Psalm 1:1-3

The Path to Happiness isn’t what we expect. It comes from God, from Him being our greatest delight.

Not So the Wicked

Not so the wicked!
    They are like chaff
    that the wind blows away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

The opposite. Chaff blowing on the wind. Cannot stand with the righteous. Perishing, not blessed.

Are you that blessed person?

The Blessed Man. Who is He? Abraham? Moses? David? No, Jesus of Nazareth! He is the perfect Man. This Man gives blessedness.
