God Loved Us

God Loved Us

God Loved Us – 1 John Chapter 4, verses 7 to 21

This is how God showed his love among us: he sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

God Loved Us

“I love you Benny, but right now I don’t have to like you!” (from “How to Lose a Guy in 10 days”)

God is not like that – we so often are. Don’t think God’s love is weak just because our love for Him is weak.

Jesus loved us

In a time of rejection and endless need “Jesus had compassion on them.” Matthew 14:9-14

He wept over the people of Jerusalem – ‘Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing.’ Matthew 23:37

He cared more for the men killing Him than He did for His own terrible suffering – “33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals – one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, ‘Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.’ And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.” Luke 23:33-34
