Love in all the wrong places.
John’s first letter, 1 John, Chapter 2, verses 15-17.
A Ferrari is impressive. What makes someone spend $400,000 to get from A to B? Desire, love? But not logic.
I think, therefore I am.

In practice it is more often “I love, therefore I am”, which drives us.
Love is a choice , verse 15.
Do not love the world or anything in it.
“Do not..” means we can choose to or not.
What’s wrong with the world?!
Nothing, if all we mean is the natural world that God made “very good”.
What John means is anything that promises to satisfy, then cries “more!”. Anything that gets in the way of loving God. He only satisfies, as He only lasts forever.
- Physical desires (not just sex)
- Jealousy
- Boasting
… can’t satisfy.
What is your primary love?
Jesus replied, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind.’ (Deuteronomy 6:5) This is the first and most important commandment. And the second is like it. ‘Love your neighbour as you love yourself.’ (Leviticus 19:18) Everything that is written in the Law and the Prophets is based on these two commandments.”
