Love One Another – Romans chapter 12 verses 9 to 11
Love one another
Paul’s picture of love’s character is not too be seen as a moralistic list, but rather as the natural outflow of the love of God in our hearts.
Sincere love, but hatred for evil
Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Romans 12:9
We love because He is love, and we are to be like our Father. We are to especially love to those who are the household of God. What we love we spend time with.
1 John 4:20-21, “Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.”
Yet it must be a discriminating love, hating evil, but clinging to what is good.
Devotion and honour for one another
Be devoted to one another in love. Honour one another above yourselves.
Romans 12:10
A kindly affection. A deep familial bond exceeding just friendship. A family relationship, brothers and sisters. Honour others above yourselves.
Zeal and fervent service to the Lord
Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervour, serving the Lord.
Romans 12:11
Don’t be lazy, but bubble over with Christian love, powered by God’s love.
