The Foundation of Jesus’ Mission – Acts Chapter 1, verses 1 to 11
A new enterprise. Apple’s vision. A few projects, done with excellence.
Jesus Christ launched an enterprise 2000 years ago, far greater, that will outlast Apple and all other solely human enterprises. He is building His church, and it will succeed.
The foundation of Jesus’ mission Acts 1:1-7
His resurrection. He appeared 40 days. Many saw Him. Up to 500 at a time. They spoke with Him, they ate with Him.
The vision of Jesus’ mission Acts 1:8
A clear focus of a sure and certain hope.
A false hope is corrected – it is not a political kingdom. Not that hope. A spiritual kingdom.
A spiritual vision. “Go into all the world! … You will be my witnesses …”. And to all, regardless of age, race or culture. All need to hear of Jesus, and He welcomes all.
The promised power for Jesus’ mission Acts 1:8-11
Not political or personal power. None shall boast like that in God’s presence.
“Wait for the Spirit”. Growth is God’s business. Faithful service is ours. He, the Holy Spirit, is the power. He convinces people. We are just called to tell what we have seen and heard in our lives.
