A Prayer For When We Want Things To Be Made Right

A Prayer For When We Want Things To Be Made Right

A Plea for Truth

Hear me, Lord, my plea is just;
    listen to my cry.
Hear my prayer –
    it does not rise from deceitful lips.
Let my vindication come from you;
    may your eyes see what is right.

Psalm 17:1-2

David was not claiming to be perfect, but that in role as king he has done no wrong, walking in God’s path.

A Plea for Love

Show me the wonders of your great love,
    you who save by your right hand
    those who take refuge in you from their foes.

Psalm 17:7
A Plea for Confident Hope

As for me, I shall be vindicated and shall see your face;
    when I awake, I shall be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

Psalm 17:15

His foes are gathered against him, yet his focus is on his hope to one day see God.

The Focal Point is Truth, Love and Hope

“To gaze into infinite beauty and to receive such infinite love will give us a satisfaction that will last forever.”

Tim Keller, from ‘My Rock, My Refuge’

“When I awake, I shall be satisfied with your likeness.” Jesus is our focal point.
